Louis Dewitte studio overview with paintings
'Dat is niet in de haak' (2025)

“In Dewitte's workshop, words are dissected: semantics, joke formulas, and riddles are systematically broken down into formulas in an effort to create a sort of how-to guide. He mismakes the joke: he dissects puns, repeats them, and places them in a new context. This way, he dismantles the joke and touches on its strength.”

Louis Dewitte presented his interactive performance ‘Jesters and their Joshing Choices’ (collaboration with Emma Crombé and Marthe Huyse) during his residency at BROEI and at Antwerp Queer Arts Festival 2026 (Stadsschouwburg Bruges).
